Select is delighted to be partnering with our client in their search for a South Island Distribution & Warehousing Manager to be based at their Waikouaiti Distribution centre.

This role plays a vital part in ensuring the day to day success of the warehousing & distribution operations in the South Island, ensuring the smooth flow of goods through the warehouse, to customers and to other distribution centres.

The position requires a hands-on approach leading a team of up to 20. You will work closely with the Operations Manager and other Managers while developing strong relationships with our customer facing staff including customer services and sales management.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Warehousing & Distribution Management - Manage all aspects of the day to day running of the warehouse including;

  • Overseeing all aspects of the inwards and outwards movement of goods including dealing with 3rd party transport & storage providers
  • Maintaining robust inventory control procedures, ensuring accurate stock counts, minimising discrepancies, and maximising availability
  • Overseeing customer order picking, run assembly and transfers to other internal warehouses
  • Ensuring key performance indicators are met and improved

People - Lead your team in creating an inspiring work environment with an open communication culture

  • Organise and direct staff to ensure priorities are met for the day
  • Maintain staff rosters including managing attendance
  • Work with staff to build capability including managing the teams competency framework

Compliance - Lead and role model behavioural based Health & Safety & Food Safety

  • Actively participate in hazard reviews and risk management
  • Participate in Quality compliance Audits and food safety programs
  • Maintain and improve GMP standards

Skills and Qualifications - Ideally you will bring to the role:

  • Minimum 2 years management experience
  • Warehouse management experience
  • Experience with Microsoft D365
  • Microsoft Office suite of tools - Excel, Word & PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with payroll system administration
  • F Endorsed forklift licence
  • MPI trained & certified transitionary and containment facility operator
  • Chep account administration
  • A relevant tertiary qualification (preferred)
