About the role
We are on the hunt for a Protection Technician, reporting to the Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for providing testing and commissioning of substation assets with a strong focus around OH&S. You will have a positive attitude with a strong work ethic and desire to work collectively as a team to complete works efficiently.
Responsibilities (not limited to)
- Fault finding, installation, testing, programming, maintenance and repair of substation and electrical assets.
- Managing substation, transformers and switch gear maintenance, repairs, and installations
- Consult manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering personnel in order to troubleshoot and solve equipment
- Carry out relevant quality checks and audits
About you
- Bachelor in Electrical Engineering or an Electrical certificate or licence
- Minimum 5+ years of industry experience in power assets
- Hold registration (full, provisional, or limited) from the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) as an Electrician or Electrical Engineer
- Practical industry-related experience is essential
- Experience with HV, substation, or power transmission is desirable
- Experience working on an electrical distribution network is highly desirable
- Demonstrated experience in underground cable testing
- Strong communication skills
- Strong technical knowledge or industry standards and codes
