Duties:
- Work alongside vessel and install or remove turnbuckles, which are used to lock and secure containers
- Go onboard the vessel and install or remove support bars and twist locks. This equipment supports the containers.
- Work in teams of 4 to 6 lashers. You will always be with another lasher, as a pair.
- Ensuring your 'buddy lasher' is always safe
- Undertake safety checks
Skills and Experience:
- You will be fully and extensively trained
- You need to be physically fit and have strong upper body strength
- You MUST have a clean, full NZ CL1 driver's licence
- Strong health and safety awareness and attention to detail
This role will suit, if:
- you can commit to the shift when a lasher order is placed - 24 hours' notice (can be weekdays and/or weekends).
- you can manage on fluctuating weekly income - vessel schedules vary (may be 2 or 4 vessels per week).
- you enjoy working outdoors in all seasons and all weather.
