AWF are seeking skilled and experienced forestry workers to assist our client with their harvest requirements, we have multiple roles available for the right people.

About the client;

Our client is Invercargill based and has a very diverse business, this includes everything from planting to harvesting and milling, they even manufacture end products which reduces their waste. With roots firmly planted right here in Southland they try to keep as much business as possible in the local area, this means as part of their team your work is driving even more Southland business which is a great feeling!

With a number of experienced harvesting crews they're looking to increase the size of their team so they can continue to meet demand. With safety as the top priority for our client they need people that share their vision of keeping people well and ensuring that everyone goes home at the end of a hard days work.

About the role;

This is a temporary role with the potential to become permanent for the right person.

Our client has a number of varied roles for skilled forestry workers, this includes; people with prior professional chainsaw experience, tree felling experience and forestry machine operators.

The roles will be varied and require people to help the wider team and so is definitely not for those that are afraid of hard work or those that just want to sit in a machine all day. As part of the team you will be responsible for all aspects of the harvest including tidy up.

About you;

Through your previous forestry experience you will be knowledgeable and competent when it comes to working on site, you'll be dedicated to health and safety and understand how to keep yourself and others safe.

You will have professional saw skills or have experience operating forestry machinery including diggers and loaders, although you'll also be willing to get out of the operators seat to help the team get the job done.

Mostly you'll be easy to get along with and able to work as part of a team as you will be spending a lot of time with your new work mates.

In addition to the above to be successful in your application for this job you will have the following;

  • Minimum class 1 New Zealand license (higher class and endorsements preferred)
  • Be physically capable and fit
  • Be fit for work including free from drugs and alcohol. Pre-employment and random drug screening will occur throughout the employment
  • Be able to pass pre-employment checks, including criminal history, drugs and alcohol and ACC history.
  • Have a current CV with contactable references
  • Have the right to work in New Zealand and documentation to prove it
