AWF is delighted to be assisting our client in their search for a Service Technician/Heavy Diesel Mechanic in Ashburton. Our client offers long term job stability, good variety between field and workshop work, and a mix of maintenance and repairs. They will invest in your training to ensure you are multi skilled and well equipped to succeed.
They offer good hourly rates (up to $39 per hour) and extended hours during the high season.
Being a member of a committed service team, you will be responsible for the repairs and maintenance of mobile plant including modern harvesters, and other agricultural equipment.
Being involved in seasonal harvesting will see you being predominantly field based during the summer (Nov- to Feb), and workshop based in the other months. Hours of work, and shifts will change by the season to ensure 24/7 coverage during harvest. At other times Monday to Friday day shifts are worked.
With effective maintenance planning and systems in place, the work is a combination of preventive/predictive maintenance, and repairs and breakdowns. The role will be varied and challenging and your ability to diagnose issues and problem solve will make you stand out.
You will bring
- NZ Certificate in Heavy Automotive Engineering, or equivalent
- General welding and engineering skills are a plus
- An understanding of hydraulics
- The ability to think on your feet
- A commitment to safety, quality, and your team
