About the job:
You will be working on the car ships that come into port and helping with unloading these vessels. This includes going into the ship, unstrapping the car, driving it off the boat and onto the wharf and parking where required. When there is no car ship due you will be working across the various departments instead.
This could include working in the yard to keep it clean and tidy, helping to un-lash trains that have come in with logs, sweeping the train after it has been unloaded and scaling the logs. As well as unlashing trains, you will be assisting with trucks who deliver logs and marshalling them to the correct area.
When you are working in the yard the pace of the shift will vary, for example a lot of trucks will come in at once and it will be very busy for a couple of hours and then it could be another few hours before the next lot arrive.

The nature of this work is shift work with a weekly roster, you can expect between 40-50 hours per week in this role and the shifts are always 8-12 hours long.
