AWF Invercargill are seeking an experienced Sawmill Operator/Site Supervisor to assist our busy Invercargill client.

About the business;

Our client has a full end to end wood processing business, from harvesting and forest management through to furniture manufacturing they're committed to delivering the highest quality wood products for New Zealand. Their relatively new sawmill is a key part of this operation, located just outside of Invercargill they process a wide variety of timber for many different applications.

With their sights clearly focused on the future they are always looking to improve the mill to ensure consistent improvements in productivity and safety standards. This is a growing mill with the consistent improvement at the heart of what they do.

About the role;

Working Monday - Friday 7:30a.m. to 5p.m. you will take the lead during day to day operations of the mill.

With consistent improvement being a key part of the mills future they need a milling super star to join their team and help the current team. This role will involve operating the mill, ensuring that the most product is being produced from each log, and also assisting with training and coaching for others working in the mill.

There will also be other mill duties including general housekeeping and moving of finished timber throughout the mill.

This is a temporary role with the potential to become permanent for the right person.

About you;

You will need to be an experienced mill operator to be successful in your application, ideally you will have experience leading others in a mill environment however if you're looking to take the next step in your milling career then we'd also like to talk to you.

You will be reliable and safety conscious with a desire to work with the business to continue to grow throughput, with your milling experience you will be capable of looking at a log and understanding how to get the most saleable material from it with minimal wastage.

Obviously as you will be working in a team you'll be great at working with others and capable of talking to people in a precise manner that ensures that those newer to the industry can be successful in their roles.

In addition to the above you'll also;

- Have a current New Zealand Drivers license (endorsements preferred)

- Be able to pass pre-employment checks including drugs and alcohol, ACC and criminal history\

- Currently have the right to work in New Zealand and the relevant documentation to prove it

- Be physically fit and capable of lifting up to 20kgs

- Have a current CV with contactable references

Due to the current boarder restrictions we will not be accepting any international applicants for this role.
