About the job;

Our client is seeking an experienced mechanic or mechanical engineer to work full time in their busy Invercargill workshop. As industry leaders in the sales, service and repair of tractor implements our client has 2 workshops, this role is focused largely on used farm machinery and will require a great mechanical mind to be successful.

The job will revolve around repairing and remanufacturing machinery, this will include; rebuilding PTO mechanisms of a variety of machinery and engine servicing and repair. There will also be mechanical repairs for all machinery such as; feed wagons and bale feeders, balers and baler wrappers, mowers, planters and spreaders/tankers.

The variety of work will ensure you are never bored and get the opportunity to work on various machinery. This is a team environment and part of the expectations of the role will be assisting and guiding the team of engineers to ensure that they are successful and that the goals and deadlines of the workshop are met.

Through this role, for the right person, there is an opportunity to become the leader of the workshop working along side the used machinery manager. If you're already at that foreman level we'd love to hear from you also.

Prior experience with farm machinery is not essential as training will be provided, however prior mechanic experience is vital and anyone without hands on professional mechanic or mechanical engineering experience will not be considered for this position.

About you;

As the successful applicant for this role you will have a high level of mechanical aptitude developed through your prior experience as a mechanic, or mechanical engineer, even if this experience hasn't come from the agricultural machinery industry. You will be keen to learn and develop and not be afraid of a challenge, as you will be working with used machinery you'll also not be afraid of getting your hands dirty.

As this role will involve giving guidance to the other engineers in the workshop at time a high level of communication skills are required as well as a good grasp of the English language.

You will be confident in the use of tools and ideally have some welding capability (although the mechanical ability is more important), a natural problem solving ability is important in this role as every repair is going to be different and need different things. As the gear you'll be working on is large and heavy so are the parts so you must be physically fit and able to lift up to 20kg's.

In addition to the above you'll need the following;

- The ability to pass pre-employment checks including; drug and alcohol screening, ACC checks and criminal history checks

- The right to work in New Zealand and relevant documentation to prove it

- A current CV with contactable references

- A minimum full class 1 New Zealand drivers license, forklift license and higher class would be advantageous.
