AWF, on behalf of Fluid & General are looking for one Hydraulic Controls Technician to join their team on a full-time basis in Auckland. As part of your role, you will be required to assist with general hydraulic repairs and maintenance.

There will be variety in your role as you will be required to work within the workshop and off-site locations, you should have a good command of English both written and verbal as you build relationships with customers. To be successful in this role, you will have the ability to work well in a team environment as well as autonomously.

You will be responsible for:

  • Assisting and preparing drawings, plans and designs for mechanical engineering projects as per Mechanical Engineers and Engineering Technologists directions
  • Assisting your team and Mechanical Engineers with the design, organising and supervising inspections and maintenance of machines, mechanical and plant equipment
  • General Hydraulic repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Selecting tools and equipment to suit the job at hand
  • Assembling and installing new and modified mechanical assemblies, components, machine tools and controls, and hydraulic power systems
  • Collecting and analysing data as per job requirements and carrying out complex computations in order to prepare required diagrams
  • Ensuring that designs and finished work are within specifications, regulations and contract provisions including estimating material costs and quantities, and machine requirements
  • Analyse Hydraulic Data and Hydraulic Circuits
  • Install and Commission Hydraulic Projects
  • Power Unit Build, Test and Commission
  • Conduct cylinder repairs and testing
  • Manufacture spare parts for machinery and plant where possible

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Three years relevant experience in hydraulics
  • Ability to understand Hydraulic and Electrical Schematics
  • Sound Knowledge of fault finding procedures
  • Ability to strip, replace and repair and reassemble parts
  • Ability to complete relevant paperwork especially for off site work
  • A team player
  • Computer skills in Microsoft and CAD programs
