About the role;

AWF are seeking highly motivated and skilled individuals to assist our client in their forestry operation, we have multiple roles available for the right applicants to join our clients established team.working in a small team you will be collectively be responsible for all aspects of the harvesting of a number of large forestry blocks, your role in this will depend on your skills, experience and licenses.

Most of the role will involve the falling of trees, limbing and clearing. For those with machine operating experience and licenses this may also be part of the role.

About you;

Our client is seeking someone with a great attitute and work ethic. Prior forestry experience would be ideal but you'd also be potentially suitable if you have farming experience and are comfortable behind a saw. Ideally you will have chainsaw tickets however for the right people we can help you acquire these.

We are seeking people who can get along well with others, as above you will be working in a small team environment and so it's important that you able to integrate well into the team.

You will be hard working, reliable and able to manage yourself well, in addition to this you will be focused and consider what you're doing and how you're doing it rather than just rushing in saw in hand. Our client holds safety to the highest regard and needs people who share this vision, there are a number of rules that are designed to keep people safe and avoid disaster you will be required to work to these safety guidelines and keep them top of mind, if you are not interested in safety then you need not apply.

Of course this is outside work, if you don't have experience in working in the outdoors you will not be considered for this role, Southland winter isn't the right time to be cutting your teeth in the great outdoors.

To be successful in your application you will need to have the right to work in New Zealand and relevant documentation to prove it. You also need to be able to pass pre employment checks, this will include drugs and alcohol, ACC history and criminal history.

You will need a current CV with contactable references and a current New Zealand drivers license (higher classes of license and machine endorsements preferred)

Ideally you will either have now or be able to obtain your own professional grade chainsaw and gear however we're happy to discuss this further should you be short listed.
