AWF are seeking someone in a full time capacity who's strong, fit and reliable to assist our Invercargill client focused around the sale or steel and steel products.

This role is very physical and will involve lifting weight of up to 40kg's repeatedly, the bulk of the role will involve loading, unloading and operating a CNC lathe. No prior experience is required with lathes, it's preset and full training will be provided.

The role will also involve picking orders and loading trucks by forklift as well as other factory duties such as housekeeping.

This role is not for the faint of heart, it is at times highly repetitive and whilst you're not moving the weight far you will be required to lift billet steel repeatedly all day which as above can weigh upto 40kg's each.

This is a temporary assignment however there is potential for it to become permanent, there is also potential for up skilling yourself. Our client is one of the largests employers in New Zealand and they want to see their people become the best they can be, should you be right for the role there is an opportunity to be trained and certified in overhead crane operations and in time higher levels of licence.

This is a factory full of things that are heavy and hard, our client has safety as the number one priority for everything they do and they expect the same from their team. All PPE will be provided to ensure you're safe at work and there are heavily enforced rules to ensure everyone goes home tired but well at the end of the day.

As our successful applicant you will have proven work ethic and be very fit. You will of course be able to lift the required weight and know that whilst this role is difficult especially initially the more you persevere the easier the role becomes.

You will be reliable and able to communicate well with others, you will be dedicated to safety and be able to understand that the rules are there for a reason and need to be followed at all times.

In addition to this you'll need to have the following to undertake this role;

- The ability to pass pre-employment checks including; drugs, alcohol, ACC history and criminal history

- Be a New Zealand resident and have relevant documentation to prove it

- Have a current New Zealand drivers licence, ideally you'll also have a forklift licence however this isn't essential

- Have a current CV with contactable references
