A hands-on supervisory role

Our client is NZ's largest egg producing company and they are looking for an experienced poultry professional to join their team as an Assistant Farm Manager/Team Leader. They are a modern free range layer farm based in the Waianakarua/North Otago area.

This is a full time, hands-on position that would suit someone with recent supervisory experience and practical, relevant experience in the poultry (layer) industry. Reporting to the Farm Manager, the role assists in the efficient, day to day operational running of the Farm. Key responsibilities include leading and working cohesively with team members to ensure company policies and processes are followed, operational efficiencies are attained, while maintaining a high standard of animal welfare, biosecurity and health and safety.

Hands on tasks include flock inspections and bird handling, monitoring feeding/ventilation systems, staff training and shed cleaning. The role involves working on rostered weekend, and being on-call after hours (one in three weeks). The successful applicant is required to be onsite within 30 minutes of a call out. Potential areas to reside include Waianakarua, Hampden, Kakanui and Moeraki.

To be a fit for this role you will bring

- Previous experience working with poultry, experience within the free range layer industry would be highly regarded

- Previous experience supervising staff, including staff rostering, training and managing day to day performance.

- An excellent understanding of relevant NZ regulations and bio-security protocols

- Excellent communication and record keeping skills

- A sound level of proficiency with Word and Excel

- A full NZ drivers license

- Basic maintenance and mechanical skills

- An ability to set a strong example to others and work within a small but dedicated team.
