Our client, is a heavy hitter in the metal recycling industry, we have two available positions on a full-time ongoing basis located in Otahuhu. This role will have you working in a client facing capacity, as well as independently.

You will be working Monday - Friday from 7:30am - 5pm. These positions are great if you are looking to gain work experience within the scrap metal industry and are physically fit.

Role One: Belt Picker

Your main focus will be sorting plastic scrap and metal scrap from a continuously moving conveyor belt.

Your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Sorting/picking plastics and metal components into bins
  • Sweeping excess material to ensure you have a clean working environment
  • Working autonomously as well as in a team environment

Skills & experience required:

  • Physically fit and able to lift up to, but not exceeding 20kgs
  • Proven commitment towards individual and your teams health and safety
  • Reliable transport to and from work, with a relevant drivers license
  • Previous experience in a labour-based role (manufacturing, assembly, demolition etc.)
  • OSH forklift certificate and/or F endorsement preferred, but not essential

Role Two: Metal Grader

Your main focus will be to evaluate the different types of metal scrap that customers bring to the yard and providing great customer service

Your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Evaluate scrap metal value and provide information of how much the customer will receive for their scrap metal
  • Sweeping excess material to ensure you have a clean working environment
  • Directing where customers can tip their load
  • Face to face interaction with clients and providing customer service

Skills and experience required:

  • Great communication skills as you will be customer facing
  • Previous experience within a metal grading environment would be very beneficial
  • Switched on ability to calculate the value of the metal
  • Physically fit and able to lift up to, but not exceeding 20kgs
  • Proven commitment towards individual and your teams health and safety
  • Reliable transport to and from work, with a relevant drivers license
  • Previous experience in a labour-based role (manufacturing, assembly, demolition etc.)
  • OSH forklift certificate and/or F endorsement preferred, but not essential
